High blood pressure, which is also known as hypertension, has been given the nickname of the ’silent killer’. High blood pressure can be a fatal condition that develops gradually over a long period of time and the majority of people do not experience any signs or symptoms of the condition at all. As a consequence of its lack of signs and symptoms, high blood pressure frequently goes undiagnosed and untreated.
In the United States it was estimated that some 50 million adults were suffering from high blood pressure in the early 1990’s and this figure has been rising ever since. By the start of the 21st century it was estimated that some 65 million people were suffering from high blood pressure and now that number has topped 72 million. This means that about one in three adults in the US now suffers from high blood pressure.
Here are just some of the things revealed by recent studies:
30% of people who have hypertension are not aware of the fact that they have it and are therefore not receiving any treatment.
15% of the people are aware that they have hypertension but are either not getting treatment for it or do not bother to follow their recommended treatment.
25% of the people are aware that they have hypertension but they do not have their blood pressure under control.
What this means is that only about 30% of those people with hypertension are presently receiving the correct treatment and have the condition under control.
Despite the fact that it is frequently said that it is impossible to tell if a person has high blood pressure there are a number of tell-tale signs which could indicate the possibility of hypertension and these include such things as dizziness, headaches, blurred vision and nausea.
High blood pressure is a major cause of death in the US today and it raises considerably the risk from a number of life threatening conditions such as heart failure, heart attack, cardiovascular disease and kidney failure.
Because of the nature of this condition it is a good idea to keep an eye on things by monitoring your blood pressure regularly and this can be done by simply visiting your doctor’s office and asking for a blood pressure check. This is not however all that convenient and so a better option today is to simply monitor your own pressure at home. There are a variety of monitors available today for use at home which are both quick and easy to use and are also relatively inexpensive.
Having your own blood pressure monitor means that you can keep an eye on blood pressure for the whole family and will give you considerable peace of mind and allow you to pick up any developing problems at a stage at which they can be easily treated.

Cluster headaches must be one of the most painful conditions known to man and their only saving grace is that they are fortunately fairly rare. For instance, though roughly one person out of every ten of the population suffers from migraine, only in the region of one person in three hundred will experience cluster headaches.
Cluster headaches normally appear as what a lot of sufferers describe as a hot and stabbing pain behind just one eye or in the area of the temple. Their chief characteristic however is that they run to a timetable and will appear at the same time every day often appearing for several days, weeks or months at a time. They also tend to appear without any warning, unlike migraines which are often preceded by a number of warning signs.
Noone is entirely certain what causes these extremely painful headaches although research favors the theory that they result from abnormalities in the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus is a small gland which has an important part to play in regulating the body’s internal clock and this could explain why these headaches occur at the same time each day.
Yet another feature of these headaches that sets them apart from migraine headaches is that are far more prevalent in in men than in women. When it comes to migraines approximately three times as many women as men are afflicted however, in the case of cluster headaches, studies indicate that they are seen up to eight times more often in men.
Standard treatments for normal headaches are virtually always useless for cluster headaches and this is one type of headache for which you need to seek professional advice from your doctor.
One frequently used treatment is that of inhaling pure oxygen for a few minutes once the headache starts. This form of treatment does not work for everyone but generally works very well for those who do find it helps. It will not however prevent a headache and is only effective in treating a headache once it has begun.
Yet another very effective treatment is the use of a new class of drugs known as triptans which are currently being used to treat migraine headaches. These drugs do however need to be taken in a very fast acting form to be effective and this normally means using them in the form of a nasal spray. In many cases however cluster headaches can cause inflammation of the nasal passages rendering this sort of treatment difficult. Here, triptans can sometimes be given by way of aninjection.
At the moment there are no good preventative treatments available for cluster headaches though some sufferers find that calcium channel blockers work quite well. Also, in very severe cases surgery can be considered as a last resort treatment and several neurological procedures are available which include procedures that block certain nerves and which remove a section of the brain.

Common Infertility Drugs and Their Usage
When a couple is dealing with the issues of reproductive challenges and possible infertility, there may be some simple measures they can take to increase their chances of conceiving. For others, however, they may get a recommendation from their doctor that they begin a round of infertility drugs in order to help them along. If this is the case, we have assembled some helpful information about the most common infertility drugs, typically prescribed to the woman, along with their usage. Here is the rundown:
Bravelle Inj
This medication provides the hormone (FSH) that helps cause the ovaries to produce eggs. This medication is usually used in combination with other infertility drugs, including a hormone (hCG) for the growth and release of a mature egg (ovulation). This medication is not recommended for women whose ovaries no longer make eggs properly (primary ovarian failure).
Bromocriptine Oral
Bromocriptine is one of the infertility drugs used to treat hormonal problems caused by high levels of a certain chemical made by the body (prolactin). Such problems include unwanted breast milk, missed/stopped periods, difficulty becoming pregnant, decreased sperm production, and decreased sexual ability. Because of possible serious side effects (e.g., high blood pressure, seizure, heart attack, stroke), bromocriptine is not recommended for stopping unwanted breast milk after pregnancy, miscarriage, or abortion. Note that this is true for all infertility drugs – they should be used for their intended purpose and nothing else.
Chorionic Gonadotropin IM
This medication is used in women to treat fertility problems. It is given after finishing another other infertility drugs (menotropins) to cause the release of an egg (ovulation). It should not be used in women whose ovaries no longer make eggs properly (primary ovarian failure).
Clomid Oral
This medication is used to treat infertility in women. It works by stimulating an increase in the amount of hormones that support the growth and release of a mature egg (ovulation). As with many infertility drugs, this medication is not recommended for women whose ovaries no longer make eggs properly (primary pituitary or ovarian failure).
Menopur SubQ
This medication provides follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) that help healthy ovaries to make eggs. This medication is usually used in combination with other infertility drugs, including another hormone (human chorionic gonadotropin-hCG) to help you become pregnant by bringing about the growth and release of a mature egg (ovulation). This medication is not recommended for women whose ovaries no longer make eggs properly (primary ovarian failure).
As with all infertility drugs, be sure that you are in constant communication with your doctor about their dosage, storage, possible side effects, and of course the length of time for which you should take them. Make sure that you are very clear on all the necessary information and don’t hesitate to speak up if you have questions or need further assistance in understanding these things – after all, infertility drugs are very strong medicines, and you will need to make the decision about whether or not they are the best course of treatment for you.

Insomnia is also caused by a variety of factors. The body is controlled by a circadian rhythm, which regulates sleep and waking hours. Insomnia is such a common condition, affecting millions of Americans, yet many people are not aware of the serious consequences of Insomnia. Commonly referred to as sleeplessness, or lack of sleep, insomnia can lead to severe fatigue, anxiety, depression and lack of concentration. Insomnia is the inability to fall or stay asleep. It can be a long-term or short-term problem that is caused by many conditions, diseases or circumstances. Many people can find relief with products like  Sealy Posturepedic Mattresses, and they have been well know to provide a solution for people suffering with Insomnia.
Insomnia , the inability to sleep , is all too common in our society. Many people have transient sleep disturbances and treat them with over-the-counter medications, while others turn to their healthcare provider for prescription medications - and there are plenty of choices for medications. stress can be called the creator of insomnia. Stress related to work, school, health or family concerns. Insomnia can be described as either transient, short-term or long-term. Transient insomnia lasts for only a few nights.
Insomnia is not a disease but a symptom. It can be caused by an underlying sleep disorder , or might be brought on by something as simple as a change in schedule, a stressful event at work, or an afternoon cup of coffee. Insomnia often results in daytime sleepiness, reduced cognitive performance, and potentially dangerous inattentiveness. One recent study, conducted in Brazil, found that an alarming 22 percent of long-haul truckers had fallen asleep at the wheel.
Insomnia is very common in psychological conditions such as depression or anxiety. A sudden unexpected stressor such as a job loss or death in the family may also cause sleepless nights. Insomnia also varies in how long it lasts and how often it occurs. It can be short-term (acute insomnia) or can last a long time (chronic insomnia). Insomnia is a symptom rather than an illness in itself: in the majority of cases, sleeplessness has an underlying cause. When no underlying cause can be found, a person is said to be suffering from primary insomnia.

Breast implants typically use saline; however, due to recent FDA approval of silicone, more patients are opting for silicone breast implants. During the procedure, breast implants are surgically implanted to increase breast size and enhance the shape of the breasts. Breast implants have the same basic type of outer envelope made of a solid, rubber-like form of silicone called an elastomer. Implants come in many sizes; the size used depends on the amount of augmentation desired. Breast implants are used during augmentation to increase the size and shape of the breast. When considering a breast augmentation to enhance your image, there are a variety of factors to evaluate, mainly where do you want to have it done and where are the best places for doing it. Obviously one of the most famous places in the world is the Beverly Hills Breast Augmentation thanks to it’s big demand in the Beverly Hills breast surgery demand.
Breast implants can potentially remain intact for decades in the body, but all such devices will fail at some point. When saline breast implants break, they often deflate quickly and can be easily removed. Breast implants are not. Once the skin and natural breast tissue have been stretched by breast implants, they will never look the same as they did before the implant surgery. Breast Implants are in a medium risk category where that claim is assessed and endorsed by an independent certification organisation known as a Notified Body.
Breast Implants are not for everyone - but for the ones that do the research and go with a qualified surgeon with “realistic” expectations, it can be an esteem booster. Breast Implants also offers the best free information about breast implants, breast implant surgery, breast augmentation, saline and silicone breast implants, and breast enlargement. To find a breast implant surgeon in your area, click on your state using the map or the list of states below. Breast implants are the option for reconstruction that requires the least surgery. About half of all breast reconstructions are done using implants.
Breast implants come in a variety of shapes, surface textures, and sizes. Depending on the desired shape you wish to achieve, you and your plastic surgeon may choose a round or contoured shape. Breast implants vary in shape, size, and shell texture. Breast implants are not going to solve problems for you.

Chemotherapy is treatment with anti-cancer drugs, given to destroy or control cancer cells. A single drug may be given or several different drugs may be given together. Chemotherapy medications, regardless of how they’re given, generally travel in your bloodstream and throughout your entire body. The intravenous route is the most common, allowing chemotherapy drugs to spread quickly through your system.
Chemotherapy is usually administered for approximately 6-12 months or until a patient achieves a plateau response or stable disease, especially if the therapy is well tolerated. When used as induction therapy, usually 3 or 4 cycles are given prior to collection of stem cells. Chemotherapy is delivered many different ways depending on the drugs and treatment. Intravenous means delivered by inserting a needle in a vein, orally is by mouth, and via catheter or port is by a tube inserted into the chest via a surgical procedure. Chemotherapy can make you feel tired. This fatigue may or may not worsen as you are treated with more cycles of chemotherapy. Obviously that is when understanding chemotherapy treatment and Chemotherapy drugs is pretty important
Chemotherapy usually has some effect on the immune system. With many chemotherapy protocols, it is not unusual for the oncologist to delay a cycle if a patients white count is below a certain level. Chemotherapy drugs take longer to have a complete effect, sometimes several weeks or up to a few months. Because they alter the immune response that causes the disease, they can slow down significantly and sometimes stop the course of the rheumatic disease for which they are prescribed.
Cell types that are normally rapidly dividing, such as those in the bone marrow and in the lining of the intestine, tend to be hardest hit. Death of the normal cells produces some of the common side-effects of chemotherapy. Cells grow by dividing. Chemotherapy works by damaging cancer cells that are dividing.
Drugs are combined so that there are few overlapping side effects, to make the treatment more tolerable. These combinations are then tested in clinical trials to see how effective they are. Drugs can be given and blood samples can be taken through them. Drugs affect “younger” tumors (i.e. With succeeding generations of tumor cells, differentiation is typically lost, growth becomes less regulated, and tumors become less responsive to most chemotherapeutic agents.
Cancer is a disease characterised by important metabolic alterations. Not only these adaptative changes give higher proliferative capacity to cancer cells, but they also contribute to higher resistance to chemotherapeutic agents. Cancers are made up of fast-growing cells. Other fast-growing cells, such as the cells that make up hair follicles, are also affected.
Ask your doctor and nurse any questions you may have about chemotherapy. Also don’t hesitate to tell them about any side effects you may have.
Chemotherapy drugs are given intravenously, by injection or by mouth. Chemotherapy is often used alone, or in conjunction with radiation therapy or surgery. Chemotherapy drugs work by interfering with the ability of cancer cells to divide and reproduce themselves. Chemotherapy can be delivered by the bloodstream to reach cancer cells all over the body, or it can be administered directly to specific cancer sites.
