Panic attacks are the initial steps leading up to panic disorder and a good number of people are affected by this problem. Often panic attacks occur for no apparent reason. Their causes are shrouded in mystery. They can strike unexpectedly, suddenly, spontaneously.
Lack of Assertiveness - Recent statistics are showing evidence that folks suffering from panic attacks tend to engage in a passive style of communication with others. This communication style is unassertive, and seems to contribute to panic attacks.
Biological Causes: Vitamin B deficiency, poor diet, Wilson’s disease, inner-ear problems or parasitic infections among other biological causes have also been found to cause anxiety attacks.
Phobias: Another cause of panic attacks are caused by things you fear most. If you’re afraid of public speaking, you will probably have a panic attack when asked to speak in front of a large group of people.
Hyperventilation: During breathing if there is change in the mix of carbon dioxide and oxygen, a message is sent to the brain about possible suffocation. This message is believed to be one of the panic attacks causes.
Pressure at work, in which you have to perform exceptionally well, is a cause for anxiety. In fact, in many companies there is so much stress and anxiety that the companies themselves provide therapy classes through which their employees can reduce or even get rid of their stress and anxiety and in turn eliminate a major panic attacks cause.
Fear of rejection is a common cause of anxiety and a major panic attacks cause. This can also be seen as simply being afraid of being told: ‘No’. Because of this, even just approaching people for a conversation can create unpleasant feelings. After a conversation, you can then still be thinking or wondering what the other person thought of you, which is naturally a cause of concern.
Situational: If a person is agoraphobic he can have situational panic attacks. In agoraphobia a person fears public places, crowds, crowded escalators, cinema halls etc.
Allergies and side effects of drugs: Allergic reactions and the side effects of some drugs can cause an increase in anxiety and panic attacks. Strangely enough, tranquilizers and anti-depressants also can cause anxiety and panic attacks, particularly at the beginning of treatment.
The right way to cure panic attacks is to meet anxiety at its tracks and not give in to it by treating the symptoms. According to many experts a combination of several panic attacks causes are responsible for triggering panic attacks. The closest analogy to what happens during panic attacks is found in how the human body reacts to fear or a threat. There are established rules of behavior in our brain on what it must do when faced with sudden danger to the body or life. Fear causes panic attacks more than anything else though the nature of fear is not always clear. A panic attack is the body’s response to a threat that is not really there. Under threatening panic attack, that very defense helps us to survive the threat, but when there is no threat the triggering of this defense mechanism causes panic attacks.
